Stepper

Howie Woiwod

Howie Woiwood Being no stranger to ska and reggae music, Howie enjoys being part of Stepper in many ways, playing the keyboard, trumpet and singing. Howie grew up in Calgary, and at the age of seventeen started playing with local funk and ska favorites Interstellar Root Cellar.

In 2005 he moved to Montreal with Stepper band mate Andy McAdam, looking to bring their brand of "soul-ska" to the east of Canada. Since living in Montreal, in addition to playing with Stepper, Howie has become an in demand trumpet player on the scene.

He has performed and recorded with many ska, reggae and rock greats, including Montreal's latest indie darlings Hollerado, and Stomp Records recording artist Jah Cutta in an all‐star horn section comprised of Nicky Popovic (Stepper and General Rudie), Phil Dixon (General Rudie), and Lorraine Muller (Kingpins, Fabulous LoLo, Les Handclaps). Most recently he laid down tracks for Chinese ska band Long Shen Dao, building international ska relations in the process.

Howie enjoys watching Die Hard movies and drinking green tea.
